ePayment

Jobber’s ePayment feature allows you to charge your Clients directly. Your clients can pay their bills online meaning that you get your money faster, no more waiting on the cheque in the mail!

First off, you need to make sure that the ePayment Add-on is activated on your account. You can do this by accessing your “Account Settings” from the drop-down menu at the top right of your browser. From here you can toggle all of Jobber’s different Add-ons on and off by going to the “Add-on” tab along the navigation bar.

Once you’ve confirmed that ePayment is switched on, you’ll need to do some basic set-up in the “Account Settings” section under “Add On Settings.”

We’re working on broadening the list of supported “Methods of Payment” / Merchant Providers, but for now you can choose between PayPal Express (PayPal Website Payments Standard) and PayPal Pro (PayPal Website Payments Pro).

Be sure to select the country you operate in (USA or CAN).

There are a number of differences between the two options and for more information on pricing and to help you decide which to use, click here. While neither of these options requires that your clients have a PayPal account of their own (just a valid credit card), they can choose to pay using their own personal PayPal account if they do have one. PayPal is widely known, widely used and is therefore widely trusted.

The process of setting up a Paypal account is relatively easy, but there are some tricky spots. For information on setting up a Standard PayPal Account, click here. And for information on setting up a Pro Account, click here

PayPal Express refers to the Standard PayPal  business account (click here to go to the PayPal site). While they call it “Express” it is, in fact, the slower of the two options, but it doesn’t involve an application process or a monthly fee on your part so depending on your needs it might be the better of the two options.

If you have a Standard PayPal business account your clients are redirected to PayPal’s own site to complete their payment. This option is cheaper, but still reliable and secure!

PayPal Pro refers to a Pro business account which allows you to use your Jobber account as an intermediary between you and your clients. While PayPal charges more for a Pro Account, it doesn’t require your client to go to the PayPal site to make their payment.

Once you select the “Payment Method” you can edit some of your basic settings including currency. You can choose between the currencies that PayPal supports (USD, CAD, EUR or GBP), you’ll also have to enter your Merchant Provider account information. Remember that your default tax rate for ePayment is carried over from your Invoice settings.

Once you’ve got ePayment set up your clients will start to see a “Pay Now” button at the top right of the electronic copy of their Invoices.
